I always thought it was fishy how nobody cares that the previous Santa is dead. With the exception of Judy, none of the elves seem to care much at all about Scott Calvin or form an attachment to him. Even Bernard acts like SC is just a nuisance who must be tolerated because he's the Big Guy.
